The High School Teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to helping see it become a reality in the lives of our students. This involves manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and setting an example for parents and fellow employees in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Standards of Conduct outlined in the JCS employee handbook. The High School Teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity that enables him/her to teach and demonstrate God’s truth effectively. The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, and maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude with integrity in all situations are prerequisites.

This position is a Full-Time, School-Year, 10-month role, reporting to the High School Principal.

General Description of Duties and Responsibilities

Teaches high school students with varied learning needs in a classroom setting. The teacher seeks to understand the diverse backgrounds of students and meet their individual needs by documenting teaching and learning progress, developing lesson plans, modeling essential habits and skills, providing a structured and positive learning environment, and offering feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress and goals.

Essential Job Requirements

Integrates a biblical worldview through hands-on learning experiences.
Establishes and maintains a positive, conducive classroom environment for learning, implementing Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) and social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum.
Follows the JCS curriculum, supplementing as needed to ensure academic success for all students.
Differentiates instruction to meet varied student learning needs.
Uses varied and individualized assessments to evaluate student learning.
Integrates technology, STEM principles, and project-based learning into multi-sensory, innovative teaching practices.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members.
Provides ongoing communication with families to build essential home-school partnerships.
Works collaboratively with the teaching team and exhibits a growth mindset.
Attends all scheduled meetings as required by the administration.
Models lifelong learning by engaging in ongoing professional development.
Serves in a “Plus-One” role as needed.

Qualifications

Spiritual

Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.
Must actively participate in an evangelical local church.

Education

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education or a relevant subject area.
Required: Teaching certification
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Education or a relevant subject area.

Experience

Preferred: Experience working in a classroom environment
Preferred: Experience working in private education.
