I am sharing what Kathryn Nguyen, our Director of Library & Technology Integration, had to share in response to his question.
AI use falls under our existing Academic Integrity Policy. We have taken a more broad, proactive approach to AI with our AI Position Statement rather than a policy for students. It’s less “do not use AI” and more “use AI with integrity”. Our Enterprise Edition of MagicSchool also provides AI literacy training for teachers and students. This program allows students to learn to use AI in a safe, legal, monitored environment. We have not found a foolproof “AI Detector”, therefore teachers are still relying on plagiarism checkers to identify content that has been directly copied and knowledge of students to determine if their writing is authentic. We do have an AI Policy for Teachers to help guide them as we continue to grow in our knowledge of this rapidly changing landscape.
I’ve attached these documents. Let me know if you need anything else.
