Position Summary:
The Director of Advancement at Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) is responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing of all fundraising efforts. This includes overseeing major gifts programs, the annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. The Director of Advancement will work closely with the Head of School, TCA Board, and various stakeholders to implement a comprehensive and strategic fundraising plan. The role requires an individual who can think both strategically and practically, using traditional and innovative methods to engage and build relationships with donors and stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fundraising Strategy and Execution:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, results-oriented development plan aligned with TCA’s mission and goals.
- Lead all aspects of fundraising efforts including major gifts, planned giving, and special events.
- Work with the Head of School and TCA Board to identify fundraising priorities as part of a 5-year development plan.
2. Donor Advancement and Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current families, alumni, local businesses, community leaders, and potential donors.
- Develop and manage strategies for donor engagement and cultivation across various groups (parents, alumni, business community).
- Drive efforts to engage new donors by clearly articulating the case for support, empowering students to discover and live out their God-given purpose.
3. Event and Campaign Management:
- Coordinate and manage TCA’s major fundraising events, including the Annual Gala/Silent Auction, and seasonal fundraising events.
- Develop and maintain a fundraising calendar to ensure all events are scheduled and communicated effectively.
- Collaborate with the TCA Administration and Trinity Marketing and Communications to promote events, ensuring a consistent and unified message across all platforms.
4. Advancement and Alumni Relations:
- Develop a strategic plan for engaging alumni and strengthening alumni relations to support fundraising efforts.
- Coordinate with Trinity Marketing and Communications to align branding and messaging for all fundraising initiatives.
- Focus on building mutually beneficial business relationships within the local community and region.
5. Communications and Messaging:
- Oversee the creation of promotional campaigns and communication materials to highlight TCA’s achievements and needs.
- Ensure that monthly and annual campaigns effectively share the school’s impact through storytelling, achievements, and statistics.
- Create and maintain an 18-month development calendar, setting clear milestones and goals for donor engagement and fundraising success.
6. Administrative Oversight:
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to the Head of School and TCA Board on fundraising efforts and achievements.
- Establish annual and quarterly fundraising goals and track performance.
- Maintain donor records and ensure proper follow-through with all donor engagement efforts.
7. Team Building and Management:
- Help build and lead a dedicated development team within TCA, empowering staff and volunteers to actively contribute to fundraising success.
- Encourage a culture of collaboration and support across various departments, aligning efforts with TCA’s mission and vision.
Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of and appreciation for TCA’s mission, vision, and values.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Engaged Trinity church member.
- Proven ability to think strategically and execute practical fundraising initiatives.
- Self-motivated and goal-driven with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- A desire to build lasting relationships within the community and beyond.
- Willingness to stay current with fundraising best practices and trends.
- Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, staff, volunteers, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an Advancement role or fundraising capacity, ideally in a school, non-profit, or faith-based organization.
- Familiarity with donor databases and tracking systems.
- Strong understanding of event planning and management.
