BJU Successes?

  • Posted by Alexander on August 6, 2025 at 3:29 pm

Howdy fellow teachers 👋 I’m starting my second year as the middle school English teacher at my school, and I wanted to hear how others find a balance between literature, grammar/ writing, and vocabulary. My school has given me BJU curricula for each, totaling to 3 books, which can all be used to teach a course on its own. How do you all balance between the 3? I struggled w/ just the grammar and writing last year, and now I have 2 extra books on top of it.
Any help, advice, thoughts would be greatly appreciated. May our Lord bless us all this school year to carry out His mission!

    Hi Alexander,

See if your curriculum has a scope-and-sequence or pacing guide—it’s more of a general roadmap than a strict schedule. You can use it to focus on the key skills while still blending literature, grammar, and vocab in a way that works for your class. Focus on what aligns with your goals and your students’ needs. Hope this helps, please reach out if you have any other questions.
