Purpose Statement:
The Teacher/Discipleship Assistant plays a vital role in furthering the mission of Calvary Christian Academy. This position guides students in classroom learning that will motivate them to reach their academic and spiritual potential and help accomplish our school mission. The passion of the Teacher and their efforts assist in fostering Christian spiritual growth in the students and will directly impact Calvary Christian Academy to achieve its religious mission to “make disciples” for Christ.
Scope:
As a teacher, this position guides students in classroom activities that will motivate them to reach their learning potential. The teacher will use various methods to interact with students, other faculty, parents, and staff at both Calvary Christian Academy and Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale.
As a Discipleship Assistant, this position provides essential organizational, administrative, and operational support to the Discipleship Team in executing a comprehensive discipleship program at CCA. The assistant will also provide Christ-centered mentorship and informal counseling to upper school students. The assistant contributes to the overall mission of making disciples by ensuring smooth operations and creating meaningful spiritual formation experiences for students.
Specific Responsibilities:
Teach two classes.
Model Christ in word and deed.
Write biblically integrated lesson plans for all classes on a weekly basis according to Calvary Christian Academy guidelines that further our Christian mission of making disciples and will help students grow academically and in their knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Establish and maintain communication with parents as specified by administrative policy.
Read Calvary Christian Academy email/staff communications to remain informed and respond if requested to do so. This should be done upon arrival, midday, and before departure.
Be available for student questions, concerns, ministry and counsel during lunch hours, before school, after school, or in between classes.
Attend Calvary Christian Academy staff meetings.
Attend Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale staff meetings.
Participate in scheduled department eam meetings.
Attend/participate in school events the promote relationship building with students, parents and colleagues.
Participates in the accreditation process for the school’s continuous improvement plan.
Participates in professional development to stay current in their field.
Adhere to specified professional dress.
Attend and participate in designated Chapels.
Establish and maintain accurate class records.
Integrate school wide theme scriptures into the classroom to help further the mission of CCA.
Discipline with love and establish incentives for improving behavior.
Provide remediation or enrichment for students as necessary.
Know the student dress code in order to ensure students comply with the standards
Compile and maintain an up to date sub folder
Must be able to lift 40 lbs
Additional Discipleship Responsibilities:
Broadly support and assist the Discipleship Team in all discipleship efforts
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of discipleship activities (such as retreats, missions trips, chapels, small groups, etc)
Assist with oversight of the Discipleship Assistants Class

Education Requirements:
Upper School Teacher – Bachelor’s Degree (12 Credits in Subject Area desired, but not required)
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Full time (40 hours/week); however, may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a CCA event, or assist with a special project or in a circumstantial emergency affecting the church facilities.
